Colleen Van Houwe is an American artist based out of New York City and Los Angeles. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies and Art. Both her passion for culture and love of art have brought her all over the world. She has exhibited her work, performed live art, and curated galleries internationally including Romania, Senegal, Italy, Scotland, and now, Spain. She not only focuses on her artwork, but travels to and from cities and events encouraging all types of artists including the fine arts, music production, and theater-performance arts. She currently lives in Altea-Alicante, Spain pursuing her artistic expression and managing the art gallery, El Diseno.
Van Houwe's work is inspired by the common thread of al humanity: human emotions. The intent of her work is to draw out these emotions, peel back the layers of cultural differences, educational background, and racial prejudices to find that we are all the same. We are together on this journey of life, searching out truth, grace, justice, and redemption. Her desire as an artist is that her work spurs the viewer on to continue this journey of seeking truth because when it is found, the truth brings freedom.
