Romania was the first place I traveled outside of the US. I was 15 years old, experienced a world outside of my own, and fell in love with culture, art, and diversity! After that first trip, I decided to return two weeks at a time for the next four years to villages in and around Bucharest, Galati, Resita, Timisoara, and Transylvania. I went door to door listening to people's stories and telling my own about Jesus. I also set up my easel in a marketplace and painted stories from the Bible.
After traveling there, my life will never be the same. In many ways, that is where my love for cross-cultural missions was born. I saw thousands of people come to Christ and have their lives turned upside down. It is a pleasure even now, to live in Spain where many Romanians come to start a new life. Whether I go back or not, I believe God is not finished with me and the Romanian people. Their faces and stories have been etched on my heart forever.
